Churchill’s German Special Forces: The Elite Refugee Troops who took the War to Hitler. During WWII, the British created German-speaking units from among the refugees of Austria, Poland, Czechoslovakia, and Germany. The majority were Jews who had fled persecution. Two examples of these secret units were X Troop Commandos and the Special Interrogation Group (SIG). Churchill’s initiative was copied by both the Americans and the Russians. Post-war SIG and X Troop survivors joined British special forces or were used to hunt down Nazi war criminals. $43.00 USD

Another volume in the photo-heavy series covers Romanian, Bulgarian, Hungarian, Yugoslavian, Serbian, and Slovakian tanks and other armored fighting vehicles. Waffen-SS Dutch & Belgian Volunteers: Images of War series . Another volume in the photo-heavy series covers the Dutchmen, Belgians, and Danes who volunteered for the Waffen-SS. The largest division, SS Volunteer Legion Netherlands operated in Yugoslavia and then Northern Russia. It was later re-designated 23rd SS Volunteer Panzergrenadier Division Nederland. Also includes SS Volunteer Legion Flanders (later reformed as the SS Assault Brigade Langemarck: SS-Sturmbrigade Langemarck), SS Volunteer Legion Walloon (later integrated with the SS Assault Brigade Wallonia: SS-Sturmbrigade Wallonien), and Free Corps Denmark (later part of Division Nordland as Regiment 24 Danemark). Showcases the fighting history of each formation, notably the 1944 battle of Narva, which was known as the battle of the European SS. As its forces were pushed further back across a scarred and burning wasteland, the book describes how these Dutch, Belgian, and Danish units became cut off in the Kurland Pocket. Operation Nordwind: Images of War series. Another volume in the photo-heavy series covers Operation Nordwind – the last major WWII German offensive on the Western Front – from December 31, 1944 to January 25, 1945. Although overshadowed by the Battle of the Bulge, Nordwind battles in Rhineland-Palatinate, Alsace, and Lorraine were just as intense and the troops involved faced the same bitter weather conditions and battle conditions their fellow units did to the north. $25.00 USD
